Composition
The term composition means ‘putting together’ and can apply to any art form, whether it is a painting, a piece of music, writing, photography, and anything else that takes conscious thought.
In Visual Art, composition may be the way something is placed or arranged in the piece, or it may be what makes up the piece.
Some compositional techniques may be:
-The rule of thirds, which is splitting the features in an image into three equal parts, both horizontally and vertically.
-The rule of odds is to place subjects oddly in the frame which will be pleasing to the viewers eye.
-Simplification is to decrease the extraneous content, so that the piece focuses on one subject.
-Geometry and Symmetry relates somewhat to the rule of odds, and suggests that triangles and none symmetrical things may be pleasing to the viewers eye.
