Monoprint

In these mono prints, I considered the usage of elements such as line, tone, and more. The black, almost messy, smudged lines in the first piece almost connote a sense of negativity, maybe sadness or anger. The tone of the lines also emphasises this, as they are harsh and dark. In the second piece, the lines are more fluid, maybe conveying a more whimsical, dream like sense to the viewer. Again, the lines are harsh and black connoting the negativity again. The composition of the second piece almost draws the eye along the page, as the piece starts in the bottom right corner and moves outwards along the page. This may portray the spreading of something, which different viewers can interpret as different things.

I’d like to work on mono printing and sellotape transfer more and develop my skills for them. I feel like each of the techniques can produce different moods and connotations. I want to see if I can create meaningful pieces that evoke different emotions among different viewers.
