Final piece
I believe the colour scheme of my final piece is the most striking feature. I picked out carefully the colours included in the body and what sort of a background they should be against. Grey was my final option as I believe it created a direct contrast with the colours used for the body and gives the piece an element of life. Overall, I used up the whole 15 hours creating and refining my piece, which I can look back on and say I’m happy with. The only thing that perhaps I’d change if I had the opportunity is to create more pieces alongside it, making it a collection rather than a stand alone piece.
First in my largest sketchbook, I used up several pages experimenting with different colour schemes, such as painting the body in grey-scale, or fleshy tones, to clearly define what I wanted my outcome to be.
Next I created a mock up piece, using my chosen fauvism style colour scheme. I experminented with a brown background, although I decided against it in my final piece, since I thought grey would be more of a contrast to the colours than brown.
