Reflection of year
I feel first year art on the whole has told me a bit about myself. I have found my feet and familiarised myself with various different styles, techniques, mediums, etc, for example my journey proved to me that my preferred medium is acrylic paint, over other things I’ve experimented with such as charcoal or even oil paint. I also discovered that the human form is a main area of interest for me when it comes to painting, evidenced throughout my unit 1 sketchbooks and final piece. However the whole year didn’t go as smoothly; the beginning of the year proved difficult for me as I was struggling with my topic and ways to integrate it into my work. This led me to change my topic slightly, allowing me to create more effective pieces that linked back to my topic.
Next year, I have no doubts I’ll carry through my enthusiasm about painting the human form and would like to integrate it into my work again. I also enjoyed creating my latest small final piece, for which I painted on a pair of jeans. Having enjoyed mainly these, I’d like to possibly combine the two more for future work.
